Inspiration of Goal Setting

All of us have dreams and we set goals to achieve them. Goal setting is easy and is a valuable tool that helps maximise learning. With clear goals in mind, we will find ourselves working harder to attain them.

How do I set goals?

  1. Write down what you want to achieve. Do not worry yet whether you can achieve it — let your ideas flow.
  2. Group your goals/ideas into three relevant categories.
  3. Link your goals back to your dreams or original purpose and focus on what you want to do within the next few weeks or months.
  4. List the tasks/activities required to achieve your goals.
  5. Start with small goals that are easier to achieve. Make adjustments where necessary.
  6. Review and reflect upon the goals daily and weekly.

Smart Study Tips

  • Study in a quiet, comfortable place with good lighting. Remove distractions like TV, toys, or comics while studying.
  • Make a daily list of tasks or topics to study. Prioritise important items first and keep a weekly timetable. Revise what you learned in class the same day.
  • Summarize each topic: use key points, flow charts, and diagrams to make notes easier to remember. Break work into smaller parts and tackle them step-by-step.
  • Understand your notes rather than just memorising. Ask friends or teachers for help if unclear.
  • Take short breaks when tired — exercise, listen to music, or relax briefly to refresh your mind.
  • Maintain healthy sleep and eating habits. Do not skip meals or stay up late to study; your body needs care.
  • Be consistent. Start preparing early for tests and exams to avoid last-minute panic.
  • Have confidence in yourself. Do your best and don’t be overly upset if you aren’t top of the class.
